Finding the Long Lost Memory
Interactive Installations & Documentary short film
Nature is the true root of our identity - This project will revolve around themes of memory and self identity, which aims to inter-connect with the public space and its audiences communicating a message. Connecting memories, our childhood, and our DNA; is a deep part of the human being, that some parts and memories you can’t live without, consciously and subconsciously.
The concepts revolving around this film, plays with the idea that we don’t know when we will die, and that we will never know the end of our existence. Metaphorically, we get to perceive existence as an endless slice of cake, however; situations, memories only get to happen a certain number of times, like a train passing by.
My vision as the producer and art director of this film, my vision consists on a series of re-purposed artifacts and messages put in a public setting, a common space, the public streets of Rome, which is the place where I grew up.
I find my motive and inspiration from the public, strangers and the connections; the purpose of this project brings the idea and realization of provoke our daily lives, to make it interesting. Through using ready made objects, specifically of public construction, I want to combine in my film with interactive elements, where the public gets to take a piece of the installation with themselves, to keep as a memory.
The central concept of the letter & envelope comes from my long lasting fascination of observing public art and photography, I have always paid attention to the personal touch and traces that alternative public artists leave in the city, however, I always felt like the sense of touch missing - a human touch. This is why I came up with the idea of leaving a trace of love, and of life in the city of Rome - as the location is also personal to me.
I developed the system of making love letters - written and sealed envelopes that I then discreetly stuck around the public infrastructures in the city. This is also a way of keeping a polite distance with the strangers at a physical level, while still connecting with a letter - bridging emotional distance between people in a public space.
