Price of The Dream

Installation

When thinking of how I could make people and myself reflect on a dream and thought, I wanted to create a space where the audience and the piece can interact. With a previous discussion I had with a relative; How can you talk about the price of giving up the dream and the sudden loss? and How to talk about those strange but daily trivialities?

The only thing I can do is to have a firm belief and keep the clear dreams of this period as seeds for the future. This is why I came up with the idea of physically facing what your dreams pursue. Every time I wrote down these names, I was accompanied by the price of tearing off the dreams I wrote down. In the process of each participant writing the price of their own dreams, everyone seemed to be trying to cross an invisible distance. It felt as if we were watching the same disaster from the closest distance - behind each letter written by participants, there is a message and a feeling, there is a complex and lonely story.

The ladder can be seen as an element of gradual growth, and in reaching a goal step-by-step. In this way, the way that people ca perceive and catch a dream could be gradual, aligned with growth, laughter and tears. After the dreams written took up all of the space; it was ripped off from the top, contrasting the linearity of gradually growing upwards. The idea behind the downwards motion comes from consumption; where there is a ilimited space and amount for an unlimited number of people - eating the space up. At the same time, this act is an act of duality.
